We were amazed and grateful to receive communication from Mandy Willis – the founder and inspiration for 69X. Mandy is passionate to support the homeless sector by holding music events – and has been doing this for 20 years!! She is also keen to support and encourage the musical talent that lies within some who are vulnerable, marginalised and homeless. She has chosen Crossover Brighton to support this year and our first event is Friday 18th August at The Brunswick in Hove! Expect to be excited by the RAP and ELECTRO genre!!

HUGE shout out to Hove Nandos in the Goldstone Retail Park for all your amazing support to Crossover! We are grateful to James Vance for being our Chef at least once a month – and for the generous donation of rolls, cheese and chicken when we need it!
And a BIG thank you for the great meal you treated our volunteers to recently! We all enjoyed the fabulous food and atmosphere!
Happy team tucking in!!
Watch this space as there is a gig coming up on 29th September at The Quadrant in Brighton to support Crossover – sponsored by and with musicians from Nandos!!
Following on from Part 1 of Frank Da Costa’s story …… one of his dreams and desires was to reconnect with his family! He hadn’t seen his mother, father, sister, daughter for about 9 years. He even had a grandson he hadn’t even met! During the summer of 2016 he was able to make contact with his daughter via Facebook and as a result she decided to fly from Canada to visit him for 2 weeks!
BUT THE STORY GETS BETTER!!
Earlier this year Frank’s mother, father, sister, nephew, daughter and others flew from Canada to Brighton for 3 weeks to visit and stay with Frank in an apartment at the Hotel Metropole. Little did Frank know when he was sleeping on the bench opposite this hotel last year that he would be staying there with his whole family the following year. Only in his dreams!! His prayers were answered!
We were privileged to share a meal with the Da Costa familia!!
This weekend Kitty Street Kitchen will begin S.A.S.!! No – we won’t be undercover carrying out a special operation – we will be in full view in St Peters’ Brighton car park or on St Peters’ north lawns!
Saturday at Six ! Crossover fills the gap during school holidays when the Safehaven project of St Peters takes a well deserved break. We will be serving hot food, drinks and tasty treats !!
We’re praying for sunshine – and musicians to give a festive atmosphere!
Great evening in Fishersgate last night with the Kidz Klub team, families and children !! Big shout out to Chris and Debbie Jarvis and all the wonderfully crazy volunteers! Fishersgate was the first night of 3 this week – Moulsecoomb tonight!!
Sophie, Claire and Abbie – a great family team! Big shout out to you too!!
THANK YOU 2nd Hassocks Girl Guides for exchanging comfort for cardboard! You chose to experience what it is like to not have a home and have to sleep out – and at the same time you raised funds for us through sponsorship by caring family and friends. GREAT JOB !!
Peter and Kelly celebrated their wedding at Hove Rugby Club recently. Their guests were invited to enjoy not only a bouncy castle and but also a classic Kitty Burger with tasty extras in the evening! Local cricketers playing in the grounds at the club also appreciated the opportunity to EAT A BURGER AND FEED A ROUGH SLEEPER!Kitty can enhance your party or event and at the same time you will be supporting our work amongst the homeless in our City! WIN WIN!! Visit our Contact Page to discuss further!
Huge shout out to Aldrington School!! After conducting an assembly sharing the work of Crossover and issues of homelessness we were invited to introduce Kitty our Street Kitchen to the children and provide hot dogs or ice lollies on a particular day after school. We enjoyed warmth of the sunshine and the happy smiles of the children as they collected their goodies – and said “Hello Kitty”!! The reception class were heroic in raising funds by completing sponsored 20 minute silence!! Those of you who have or know young children will realise that this alone is miraculous, but the funds that were raised by the whole school were equally astonishing!!
BIG THANKS TO ALL Teachers, Staff, Parents and Children!
Having established a successful charity shop in the centre of Brighton over the last 2 and a half years, we are pleased to announce that we have handed it over to a charitable not for profit organisation. The shop is now called HOPE and will be supporting several charitable works in the City of Brighton working with the homeless community, including ourselves. One of the prime reasons for this change is to enable us to focus on our core mission – reaching out to those living on the streets.
Thank you to all those who have supported us through the shop and if you wish to continue your support of us you will find other opportunities on our Volunteer or Donate pages.
